Established in 2005 by the Bioinformatics department, COMBIGS (Computational Biology Group at SASTRA) has become a beacon for computational biology enthusiasts. With a membership exceeding 250, it stands as a vibrant community keen on the exploration and advancement of computational biology. The group's initiatives include a variety of technical forums, coding events, and intellectually stimulating quizzes, each designed to ignite curiosity and encourage innovative thinking.
COMBIGS' milestones are marked by notable events such as the organization of the 1st International Conference on Structural and Functional Genomics in 2012 and the launch of its pioneering e-magazine at the 2nd International Conference in 2016. The 2018 International Conference on Genome Biology and Health Sciences further cemented its reputation as a hub for scholarly exchange. Adding to its impressive roster of contributions is the establishment of a bioinformatics library, a treasure trove of journals, magazines, reference books, and a wealth of online resources, all catering to the ever-growing needs of bioinformatics researchers and aficionados.
